I don't underestand discourse topic/post change history

(Hosein Naseri) #1

When I compare two edited posts/topics in discourse with the built in comparison tool, I cant quiet understand what is the actual change. For example in this post:

It seems to me at least this part of text isn’t changed at all. However everything is colored. How can I know the actual difference?

I’m assuming the screenshot is this topic

The first post is a wiki, and it looks like your screenshot is the HTML diff 11 - 12

If instead you use Raw you will see

I realised that the raw comparison is accurate but why the html one is not like that? Is it a bug or its working as intended?

It’s a hard technical problem, feel free to submit a PR if you feel you can fix it. In the meantime, press the raw button as noted.

I had a look and that HTML diff seems wrong to me. The inline HTML version is even worse.
Smells like a :bug: to me.

(added to my :memo: but I’m busy with other stuff right now, so feel free to take a stab at it)
