# Idea-voting, two different styles?

I see two different styles of idea voting posts, and I cant tell why they are different. One is a Idea post which has only a upvote button besides the title and the other is an idea topic which has a large up and downvote widget besides the post and a “comment” function.

I see both styles in the same Category, the Catgegory has Discussion idea (and i added support but it seems to not make a change). I see this with 2026.7.1. I say both styles for my Staff user posting it.

Those are two different plugins. [Topic voting](https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-topic-voting/40121) is for voting on a topic. It’s the plugin used in the #Contribute > Feature category here on Meta. It’s connected to the new “idea” type for categories.  
The [post voting](https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-post-voting/227808) plugin allows you to vote on posts within the topic.

ah right, so i can use the post voting in support or discussion categories just like i want to, thanks.
