IE11: Can't double-click to highlight word

(Jordan Hofker) #1

In IE11 desktop mode, double-clicking a word to select it doesn’t. Drag to select works and properly shows the “quote reply” popup.

Double-click works in Chrome.

Steps:

  1. Sign in view a topic in IE11
  2. Double-click a word in a post
  3. Notice that the word doesn’t get selected and the pop-up doesn’t appear

Quote reply for a single word is just a “feature by accident”, I don’t even support fixing that. Why would you ever quote reply a single word?

To be clear, I don’t care about Quote Reply in this case. I care that I can’t select a single word by double-click in my browser.

That makes a bit more sense. No idea why ie11 is deciding to be a problem.

I can still repro this in IE11, so it is still a problem.

Interesting. It only fails when logged in, it works fine if you’re not logged in. The “Quote Reply” popup check must be eating the first click of the doubleclick action, since when you aren’t logged in it doesn’t show the “Quote Reply” button and doubleclick highlighting words works.
