# Improving our Salesforce integration

We’re working on improving our existing Salesforce integration so that organizations can analyze the impact of community engagement on their customers and, as a result, better understand the value of the community _and_ so that customers can be better supported within the community. \[1\]

We expect to accomplish this by:

- **Improving and expanding the existing data sharing from Discourse → Salesforce** to create new contacts / leads, connect to existing contacts / leads, and ensure relevant community activity is represented in Salesforce.

- **Implement data sharing from Salesforce → Discourse** so that information about your contacts and leads can be accessed by your team within the community.

- **Establish a model for representing customers in Discourse** to help distinguish them from other community users and make sure the data you need to support them is visible and can be used to personalize their community experience.

1. We intend to expand support other CRM providers, but we’re starting with Salesforce since we already have an integration there.
