Inconsistent onebox rendering

(Christoph) #1

Am I missunderstanding something about how oneboxing works or why do some forum links render as a mini onebox and others as a full onebox:

Notify on every like should be the default

https://meta.discourse.org/t/change-timestamp-should-use-local-time-not-server-time/70552/3?u=tophee&source_topic_id=70788

And on an external discourse forum, these same urls render like this:

And on yet another external discourse forum, the first link doesn’t even produce a mini-onebox, it’s just rendered as an ordinary link…

What is the reason the source_topic_id that is added to internal oneboxes?

Onebox is for external sites.

Mini onebox is currently restricted to internal links unless you change site settings, to be revisited in a month or so

That is fine by me, but why does one internal link render as a mini onebox (or not at all if on a different discourse instance) and the other as an ordinary onebox?

(Sam Saffron) #5

Not following at all. You configure what you want expanded as mini oneboxes in site settings. Default is that you only expand internal links.

The reason the first link you posted rendered as a mini-onebox is that you put a space before it, so it was considered an “inline” link.

why do some forum links render as a mini onebox and others as a full onebox:

 https://meta.discourse.org/t/notify-on-every-like-should-be-the-default/40485?u=tophee

https://meta.discourse.org/t/change-timestamp-should-use-local-time-not-server-time/70552/3?u=tophee

Ooops. But I’m not sure that explains everything:

https://meta.discourse.org/t/change-timestamp-should-use-local-time-not-server-time/70552/3?u=tophee&source_topic_id=70788

(Sam Saffron) #8

Well the second link is you trying to onebox a deleted post… so yeah … there is that …

Okay, how about this one:

abc Discourse Meta

Is it intended that a private link is mini-oneboxed using the site title only (since the topic title is not available)?
