# Inconsistent tag selection when viewing tag pages

Let’s say I see a tag listed and click on it from the “main” page Latest view. The topic looks like this:

If I click on `faq-material` I am taken [here](https://meta.discourse.org/tags/faq-material):

`https://meta.discourse.org/tags/faq-material`

The header from that page looks like:

Note that the “all tags” still says all tags. Also, there is a New Topic button.

Now, going back to the main page, let’s say I eye this topic:

Now, I click on the `pr-welcome` tag and I’m taken [here](https://meta.discourse.org/tags/pr-welcome):

`https://meta.discourse.org/tags/pr-welcome`

The header now looks like this and shows `pr-welcome` instad of `all tags`:

There’s also a New Topic button.

It seems to me like the first example is misbehaving and the tag name isn’t being set in the menu.

As a side note, on an updated Discourse install that I admin, if I go to a tag page, I don’t see the New Topic button at all:

That’s a little sad. I’d like to be able to see the New Topic button from a tag page if I’m logged in as Admin and have that tag automatically apply to the topic I create. I’m not sure if the button missing is a bug or the addition of it for admins a feature request. Note that I have the [navigation plugin](https://meta.discourse.org/t/navigation-add-custom-menu-items/53124) installed to put the `Tags` link on the main menu at the top.

I added the button. On mobile it looks like this:
