# Increase the max post length setting

The max post length setting is 99k , in my case,as a knowledge management, there will always be posts longer than 100k or 150k. I tend not to cut them into replies or even install a plugin, increasing the max number natively may be a choice and will be more convenient.

If you want to increase the limit you’ll need to use a plugin.

I’m curious why not make it a build in feature to setting a larger max post length , is there any tech problems? I strongly recommend it.

Huge posts and topics can cause performance issues. As a general rule we don’t just arbitrarily set limits or restrictions for no reason.
