# Installing Discourse Behind Reverse Proxy using recommended (supported) installation

Hey there, May 2026 update for anyone who find this:

I use NPM Plus. I followed the instructions here, but wanted to add if anyone else is using NPM Plus:  
Instead of using the manual Nginx config listed here, OR a custom location, OR advanced settings; you can just use the provided Unix URL **without** the trailing semicolon, and leave the port empty. Also leave custom locations and advanced setting completely empty.

I have not tried this on regular NPM, but it may or may not work with the regular/standard NPM as well.
