We made some small visual tweaks (you can see it’s different here on Meta) that you’ll also get when you update, which I think will make it slightly more noticeable.
That said, we hear you, we’re discussing internally other potential improvements to the toggle itself.
One thing that’s happening here on meta currently that bothers me is that the composer menu goes onto a second line at my preferred browser window width. Not sure if there’s an answer for that unless it is moved elsewhere or made smaller, or we remove something else from the menu (or move it into the options submenu).
That’s not exactly related to this, we removed a couple of items from the toolbar prior to adding the toggle, and the toolbar was already wrapping before.
Specifically on Meta, though, I’m not sure how useful is the writing direction toolbar item, especially as (at least on desktop, not sure on mobile), you can right-click and change the writing direction natively in the browser. Either way, even if enabled, it could be behind the more menu.
That said, I think we can take the exact same logic we have on mobile, where it becomes scrollable instead of wrapping, and bring it to desktop.
