Inviting users to auth required site?

Greetings y’all,

I have been trying to find some sort of documentation or something on whether a moderator can invite someone to a site that requires a user to be auth’d before accessing the content?

My use case: I have a forum that is completely private, and hte select few that join have access to different groups / categories. I want a group owner (they are also moderators) to be able to invite people to their own group / the site (but not to invite to another closed group).

Is this possible?

Do you see the invite button at the bottom of each topic?

See also /admin/users and there’s a Send Invites link at the top of the page. You can also do a bulk invite from a CSV file.

Hey there,

Yes I do see the invite button. But they already have to be a member of the
site in order to be invited (unless you’re an admin) but I have moderators
that I want to be able to add to site. Not just to a topic or group.

The bulk invite is also just for admins if I understand correctly.

That’s not how it’s supposed to work. I just tested here (I’m not an admin or moderator) and entering an email address appeared to work:

Looks like for invite only and must approve users staff can approve users:

Ah great. Yeah you guys were right-- moderators can indeed invite by
email. Non moderators can invite by username only. Thanks guys!
