iOS 26 bugs with fixed position elements in Discourse

Unfortunately, the error still occurs with iOS 26.1 (Beta 23B5044I). However, the respective Discourse beta version might also be a contributing factor.

Which error specifically?

The vertically offset cursor position in the input field, as described here, for example:

Thanks. I haven’t tested on iPad yet, will do so shortly. On iPhone, I can no longer repro.

Public iOS 26.0.1 fixed Safari, but DiscourseHub is still off

The public 26.0.1 version is likely different from the beta 26.1.

I did test on iPad over the weekend and I couldn’t repro most of the big issues there with 26.1 (on the iOS beta/developer track).

I’m still running into the issue on iPad after installing iPadOS 26.0.1.

There seems to be a difference between using Discourse in a Safari tab, and when it’s openend through a bookmark saved to the desktop, without the address bar.

Haven’t been able to repro the issue in the Safari tab.

When using the bookmark, it happens almost every time.

Not solved for 26.0.1 which was released yesterday, but is solved in iOS 26.1 which is in beta. Expected release in 4-5 weeks.

I’m still seeing the issue in iPadOS 26.1 as well.

When you scroll up the cursor jumps to the correct location, but it starts out too far down.

Any chance you can record your iPad screen to show this in action? I want to make sure I understand exactly what the reported issue is.

Thank you, I can reproduce the issue. It is indeed worse with the PWA (i.e. the bookmark saved via Add to Home Screen) vs directly on Safari.

It’s not an easy fix, but will give it a shot.

We have the same problem with our App in iOS26.1 Beta. I have tried a lot and wasn’t able to fix it yet. I think only Apple can fix this - make sure to file a report in https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/

Please tell me how you have fixed it if you can manage to do it.

I still can’t believe Apple shipped iOS26 with all the bugs.

Is there any update on this? I’m using 26.0.1 and it’s nearly impossible to use the text editor on Discourse-based sites in Safari for anything more than simple replies because the cursor behavior is so unpredictable.

Things are usable again in iOS 26.1 beta, so we’re just waiting for Apple to release it. There’s no official date, but rumours suggest it could be next week :crossed_fingers:

Great news. Thanks for the update.

The editor problem persists with iPadOS 26.1 Beta 4.

Can you post a video by any chance? I just updated to beta 4 and the editor behaves much better than before, it doesn’t get stuck off-screen like in the video @Jan_Polet shared above.

It does have an unpleasant animation at times, but at the end of the animation, it lands in the right place.

Thank you for the video!

I can’t reproduce on my device, I tried both Safari and the PWA. It is indeed the same issue as earlier and of course, your video is proof!

I think our best bet here is to wait for the non-beta release and try and reproduce/fix then. It’s very hard to try and address these issues during beta releases, I’m sure there will be things to fix once the public release is out anyway.
