# Is it feasible to "redirect" a split topic dead link

I found a broken link when trying to re-read something _(fyi Discourse team)_.

From [Discourse Templates](https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-templates/229250/42), some of my posts were [split](https://meta.discourse.org/t/add-variable-for-pm-recipient/271525). 🔗 \> ⚠

Then they were merged into [It would be helpful to be able to use the To: username (in PMs) for Templates](https://meta.discourse.org/t/it-would-be-helpful-to-be-able-to-use-the-to-username-in-pms-for-templates/263469/3).

If an entire topic is merged elsewhere, could things like ⬆ that split link not be automatically redirected (if not a 301, the appearance of one)?
