Linking Discourse Topics to Existing WordPress Posts
meglio is seeking a way to link existing Discourse topics to corresponding existing WordPress posts without manually touching the database. downey also expressed interest in finding a solution.
simon suggested a WordPress plugin that allows embedding a Discourse topic into a WordPress post using a shortcode. However, simon later found a more suitable solution using the WP Discourse plugin, which enables linking existing WordPress posts to Discourse topics through the ‘Link to Existing Topic’ option in the post’s Discourse meta box.
So, I have people created their “personal pages” in Discourse.
I have also created their personal pages in WordPress.
I now would like to let the topics found in Discourse become the “discussion topics” for the corresponding existing posts in WordPress.
Is it possible to do in GUI without touching database(s) manually?
I haven’t figured out a way to do this but would also like to do that, if possible.
I’m not sure if this is what you are looking for, but this WordPress plugin lets the user add a shortcode to a WordPress post to embed a Discourse topic into the post.
This can now be done with the WP Discourse plugin. Any WordPress post that is not yet linked to a Discourse topic can be associated with a topic by selecting the ‘Link to Existing Topic’ option from the post’s Discourse meta box.
Once a post has been linked to Discourse, it will behave in the same way as if you had published the post from WordPress to Discourse. Posts can also be unlinked from Discourse and associated with different topics.
