# Is it possible to move my Discourse from Web to a Server?

If I first set up Discourse using the web UI and use that for a couple years, is it possible to transfer all of my information (discussions, members, etc.) to a privately hosted server later? I’m thinking I could start out with the simple setup and then transition to a local server later. How much trouble would that be?

Don’t forget to add your plugins in app.yml if you have any. They aren’t stored in the backup nor automatically installed.
