Italics bug on blocks of text

#1

Here was my example text.

Upon sign-up, new AWS customers receive 5 GB of Amazon S3 standard storage, 20,000 Get Requests, 2,000 Put Requests, 15GB of data transfer in, and 15GB of data transfer out each month for one year.

So that first one works.

Now this text below:

Assuming your bucket is in the US Standard Region, the Request fees are calculated below:
310,000 PUT Requests: 310,000 requests x $0.005/1,000 = $1.55
620,000 GET Requests: 620,000 requests x $0.004/10,000 = $0.25
5,000 DELETE requests = 5,000 requests x $0.00 (no charge) = $0.00

It didn’t work. Not sure if a char inside all this is breaking the italics.

trying something else.

now one other thing…

That was simple text there…So it must be something in the paragraph block above that doesn’t play well with markup.

It looks like it the formatting is almost working as intended. The formatting of the text is ignoring any <br> tags.

*Italics
<br>*Non Italics
<br>*Italics
<br>*Non Italics
<br>*

Interesting…Ok this was a cut and paste so I must have captured some container tags.

I tried to paste without the formatting bleed but the <br> tag seems to come through no matter what so to do this on windows it is:

CTRL + SHIFT + V - learned this handy skill at work just this week

And on MAC OS it is:

Command + Option + Shift + V

Assuming your bucket is in the US Standard Region, the Request fees are calculated below:
310,000 PUT Requests: 310,000 requests x $0.005/1,000 = $1.55
620,000 GET Requests: 620,000 requests x $0.004/10,000 = $0.25
5,000 DELETE requests = 5,000 requests x $0.00 (no charge) = $0.00

Maybe it is chrome but the <br> seems to paste through no matter what.

Oh well.

Looks like a Markdown bug. I’m looking into it.

I’ve got a fix for this now, thanks for letting me know!

Actually after I did this @sam let me know that this behaviour was intended. If you aren’t using traditional markdown line breaks it doesn’t make sense to have those tags span multiple lines. I’ve reverted the commit and added a new test to ensure this functionality.

If you want to make multiple, separate lines italic you can begin/end them all with underscores, or you can use the bbcode tag which spans multiple lines.
