One small beauty issue: if one uses whisper the icon in the composer doesn’t change.
No biggie for me, because reply-button changes but we have here on-going topic about making whispers more visully obvious.

Is there some sort of migration process after enabling?
If one previously had a “journal” category without this plugin, how does one migrate all the replies to the appropriate comment section?
I tried selecting posts and seeing if there was some sort of “move to comments of X post” but couldn’t find any.

Great plugin if just a bit undercooked in functionality (like ability to disable comments on some posts in the blog, like the first introductory one), but now causes some depreciation warnings on the current Discourse default branch. Can’t quite get a sense from the thread (and from Pavilion thread too) if this is going to be supported going further. Any plans, @angus ?

The basic problem with this plugin is that it has too few users to justify supporting it as an open source plugin, and too small a market to justify supporting it in some paid capacity (subscription or otherwise). If either of those were to change, I’d be open to maintaining it.

That is unfortunate. This functionality is valuable, I hope more people discover this feature to justify further development.
We solved removal of comment button for select journal entries with a bit of custom css wired to existence of a specific html in the entry, quick and dirty solution that didn’t require plugin editing and support.
I will keep an eye on compatibility of the plugin with future Discourse versions and will report if there are major problems in the future (to get guidance on fixing it, if anything).

Good morning
I am testing your plugin which seems very interesting for highlighting authors.
I’m having rights issues.
1. The creation of “Journals” is not limited to the group chosen in “Journal Authors”
2. New entries can be created by anyone.
Do you have any idea of the problem?

I hope it’s not abandoned, it’s a fantastic plugin that I think suffers from not enough visibility, I don’t know if people know of its existence generally. Wish this behavior was part of core functionality.

For your use case(limiting journal creation), I think you can take a look at category security settings.

If I understand if correctly, the ‘journal authors’ setting provided by this plugin, if set, will limit who can create entries in journals created by **others**. One can always create entries in their own journals.

OK for limited creation in a category (“Journal” here)

I will specify the annoying bug that I encounter.
The bug concerns the creation of a new entry in a “topic journal”
In my install anyone can create a new entry… not just the author of the topic 😐
The configuration of the ‘journal authors’ setting (empty or with a group) does not seem to have any influence.

In my instance, if I set ‘Journal authors’ to trust\_level\_2, then trust\_level1 users cannot see ‘new entry’ button at the bottom of a topic. Can you upload a screen record of the bug you described?

I did tests with empty “Journal authors” or with trust\_level\_2…in both cases a user of trust\_level\_1 without another group can add an entry to an existing Journal.
Below is my current configuration:

I installed the latest version of Discourse AND Jounal…and the bug is still there
To find the cause I deactivated certain plug-ins and Theme Components.
And I found the one that is incompatible.
Once disabled, no more bugs. 🤓

This is a very great plugin. But I see that only the topic author can post entries. How to change and make the other user can post the entries?
And in the dark model, the color is white.
