It’s probably not a bug, there was an important update regarding the fontawesome icons : [Introducing Font Awesome 5 and SVG icons](https://meta.discourse.org/t/introducing-font-awesome-5-and-svg-icons/101643)

If you customized your theme a bit before this update, you need to tweak some things. Upgrade every theme component you use, and it should be clean after that
