The settings are not coded in a way that they offer a list of categories. The problem with that would be that entering something that isn’t a category like `@` in the `display categories` setting for top level view wouldn’t be possible.

I am not sure what you are doing wrong without more information. Would you mind sharing an example? Without that, my advice would be to check again if you entered the slug of the category correctly:
