# Kernel 1028 (linux-aws. linux-gcp and linux-azure) breaks docker and therefore Discourse installs

Hi
I have automatic updates on my discourse server and after patching this week discourse broke on my EC2 instance. I traced the error to a known bug in the 1028 kernel package. The bug report is here [Bug #1977919 “Docker container creation causes kernel oops on li...” : Bugs : linux-aws-5.13 package : Ubuntu](https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-aws-5.13/+bug/1977919) along with instructions on how to recover.
in short you will have a boot loop due to a kernel panic, but there is a couple of seconds when you can log in and kill the docker service. Either upgrade to the 1029 kernel build or downgrade to 1025 and then renable docker and discourse will come back
