# Keyboard pushes things up and leaves gap in Chat DM

Hello!

On iOS (iPhone 13 mini) using the Discourse Hub app, I occasionally see an layout issue when going to DM chat with somebody. It tends to happen the first time that I freshly open up a DM with somebody (even if we have already been in touch via DM before). When I tap the text input box, the keyboard (Gboard) comes up but the whole view shifts upward, leaving a large blank gap between the input box and the keyboard.

Here’s a screenshot showing the gap:

It only happens on the initial tap when I open a DM exchange and try to start typing. Once I back out (by clicking “Done” and redoing things), it behaves normally. And then it seems to remain like that for a while.

Let me know if you can reproduce or if more information would be helpful.

Yes we are aware, we are working on it, hopefully a fix should come this week. It’s part of things which have been broken with recent versions of iOS.
