# Links in comments

Is it possible to set links in comments to open in new tab as default? 🙂

Yes, by enabling the `default other external links in new tab` setting.

After this setting is enabled it will only be applied to new accounts, existing users would have to change it in their account preferences.

If you search you can find a way to change the settings for existing users at the rails console. It’s arguably not very polite, as some users might not want links in a new tab, but you can do it if you think your users won’t mind (or notice).
