Links to invisible topics are visible in a user's activity history

Doesn’t this defeat the whole point of lowering the visibility of topics?

(And I’m getting a sense of deja vu with this one…)

Yeah, this has been known for a while. Would swear it is a duplicate but I can’t find it.

Remember that it is not literally invisible, just only accessible to those with a link. It’s a mild form of topic suppression.

That is understood. But the link to the invisible topic is in the public domain, i.e. the topic creator’s post history, and thus can be seen (and used) by anyone coming across the topic creator’s post history.

If that is “by design”, perhaps it would be less misleading if the text were changed from “This topic is now invisible” to “This topic does now not appear in the topic list”.
