# Listing ONLY unread posts in a topic

When you visit any topic, on any discourse site, you’ll start at the first unread post (if you are logged in).

Hmm . . on one particular Discourse site, if I click on “Unread” from the hamburger menu, I get: “You have no unread topics.” but if I go to “Latest” and scroll down through all the greyed out (ie “Read” posts) - if scroll down far enough, I do indeed get black posts that have had new replies that I have not read yet . .

Will someone answer after three years, that
- _unread_ shows only topics one is following
- _latest_ shows everything in chronological order
- black topics are passed new ones or topics where is done unfollowing
