Login with email or user

#1

I sent out invites which allowed people to create usernames. Some of them have now forgotten their usernames.

Is it possible to allow a user to login with their email or username?

This has been possible since Feb 2013 when we launched, so yes.

So I created an account by logging in with Facebook. I then set a password and I am still getting “Incorrect username, email or password”. Is there a setting I am missing?

Note: I can still login with Facebook.

Sounds like your Facebook email is not what you are expecting? How many different email accounts do you have? Discourse literally cannot create an account without an email address, so it is 100% impossible to have an account that does not have an associated email… or username. Either works for logging in.

It looks like you solved it. When logging into my gmail which I associate with Facebook I use a period. My Facebook account did not have the period. Thank you Jeff!

Good point, I often forget that periods are ignored in gmail usernames:

This is why I like Gmail, especially the + which allows me to see who is selling my information.
