What should I use to make the mail systems, or what software that I can set up on ubuntu that would work as a mail service on my forums?
I tried to set it up with mailcow but I could’nt.

I use mailgun for sending, and the [mail-reciever](https://meta.discourse.org/t/direct-delivery-incoming-email-for-self-hosted-sites/49487) for reply-by-email.

Mailgun is a service you sign up for (which makes it super easy 🙂). If you’re looking to try and set up your own mail server, there’s this topic with a range of advice in which might be useful - [Where can I find steps for setting up email with my own SMTP server?](https://meta.discourse.org/t/where-can-i-find-steps-for-setting-up-email-with-my-own-smtp-server/204422)
But for out-going mail it’s recommended to use a proper service for a hassle-free life. 🙂
