Mailgun test email goes to spam due to blacklist

I have recently setup Discourse and on top of that setup Mailgun as the email sending tool. This being said everything is done right in terms of DKIM, SPF, etc. I am even getting a 8.5/10 from

However when I go to admin > email > settings and send out a test email to myself (Gmail) it goes directly to my Spam folder.

How can I prevent this from happening for myself and my customers?

What are the 1.5 points you’re losing at mail-tester for? This is very unlikely a Discourse issue, and more likely a configuration or Mailgun issue.

@jomaxro here it is: the reasons are not really something we can do anything about.

Ummm you are pretty screwed:

You’re listed in 2 blacklists-- Matches your server IP address ( against 21 of the most common ipv4 blacklists.

I would inform Mailgun and ask them to move you to a different IP that isn’t on blacklists.

Is this an issue with mailgun? Should I contact their support and tell them to change the IP? This is literally the first email that we sent using mailgun.

Hey @codinghorror thanks for the reply. I did the same. I also read about you and how you put family first; as a father of a 2 year old I find it super inspiring what you did and how you still come and respond to your users here. Thanks a lot.

Thanks! I hear mailgun is pretty good about moving if the IP is bad, so let us know if that works.

Yup! That did the trick, all is good now.
