Markdown links with ... in the text

(Neil Lalonde) #1

This link doesn’t get cooked into html very well…

[http://www.google.com ... wat](http://www.discourse.org)

This creates a link to google, a link to discourse.org url that can’t be clicked, and renders " … wat" after the links:

<a href="http://www.discourse.org"></a>
<a href="http:///www.google.com">http://www.google.com</a>
... wat

This is annoying because phpBB shortens links exactly like that, so all those links are broken after an import.

Pandoc and pagedown are good here:

Babelmark 2 - Compare markdown implementations…+wat%5D(http%3A%2F%2Fwww.discourse.org)

Should a fairly straight forward fix I think.

http://www.google.com…wat

Maybe collapse it for now? Just remove the spaces as a workaround.

@eviltrout this needs a fix Monday since it is kind of blocking phpbb imports a little.

(Neil Lalonde) #5

It’s not blocking anymore. If the http://(www\.)? is stripped, it works even with the extra spaces around ....
