# Marking solutions as the official answer

Hi,

Wonder if you could help explain why sometimes I am able to mark a post as the official answer (with a tick) and at other times, the tickmark is not available for selection on the post that is the solution?

It depends if the category allows solved or not. So you’d edit the category to allow this behavior.

There is also a site settings that _globally_ allows users to mark as solved a topic in _all the categories_ (in case you want to enable the solution anywhere).  
Otherwise, just enable the solution on some categories as you are doing.

@dax I was looking for that setting under `/admin/site_settings/category/all_results?filter=` but couldn’t find anything related to marking solutions as the official answer.

Could you please give me a hint where to find it?
