Upon diving into this issue further, I found that what Discourse is doing is called _cloaking_ and it’s considered ` a violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines because it provides our users with different results than they expected.` (from [Spam Policies for Google Web Search | Google Search Central  |  Documentation  |  Google for Developers](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66355?hl=en)) I’m quite disappointed to find this out.
