Mentioning a name with incorrect casing still works?

(SHAHMMM) #1

I was posting on another forum when I discovered if I spelt @sHaHmMm wrong and if you are on Desktop it would show the name as the same as how you wrote it. imageimageimage
I am wondering if this is a bug or intentional.
Thanks.

When tapping on a mention, the usercard has the same capitalization as the mention

Names are not case sensitive, so yes this is correct and as designed @ShahMmm

Also, People are abusing <-a class=mention-> without the -. And using it to make fake pings. As I’m not the owner. Is there a way to fix it?

Pretty sure @tgxworld is aware of that, but what’s the problem? How does this bother anyone since it’s not a real notification? You could also paste a picture of a notification and it would look the same.

(SHAHMMM) #5

It is considered spam posting and increasing post count on there.

Flag it for moderator attention on your site, is what I recommend. Have a Site Feedback discussion about it on your site.

Okay, thanks for the help.

Yeah this is very clunky to fix and kind of pointless so easy to work around with flagging.

Eg:
