# Merge Staged Users

Hi all!
When moving from another platform into Discourse, we had to import users and many of the imported users became “staged users”. We’ve realized that the staged users are duplicates; for instance, “unique.user.name.1”, “unique.user.name.2”, “unique.user.name.3”…etc
What we would like to do is merge all the duplicates so that we’ll have only one staged “unique.user.name” for each duplicate and staged account; however, it appears that Discourse doesn’t allow one to directly merge staged users, any other suggestions?

Hoow did you import them? Did you use an import script based on an existing one or something else?

Thanks for your question. I learned that staged users need to be activated before I can merge them so this is what I was looking for.

That seems unlikely, but I can’t really tell. I guess you didn’t use an import script. If you had, they not be duplicated or staged.
