# Message/Notification when changing trust levels?

(Sorry if this is somewhere in the settings I haven’t looked yet.)
Can you set up automatic messages to go to users when they rank up in the Community? eg. a “Congratulations, you’re now a Regular!”
It seems to only work for Badges.

Don’t they already send a notification when the Regular badge is granted?

I guess it’s a bit confusing because of how I’ve got Badges, Groups, and Trust Levels set up.
In order to have Avatar Flair on users profile pics, I’ve set up custom groups that match the Trust Levels (which is a pain because you have to manually populate these custom groups every so often as people change levels).
But that means the Custom Groups are really how your community progress is visible to the rest of the community, not via Badges. In my community, Badges aren’t doing much aside from occasionally notifying users when a post of theirs does something special.

In short, we only support TL notifications through badges right now.
