# Mobile Photo Posting

Hello,
I thought I had read somewhere that uploading pictures to Discourse would strip the geolocalization information from them. I wanted to know if this is true (and possibly where I have read it), and whether this feature can be prevented. The use-case is a Discourse for mobile users walking together and sharing pictures during their travels.

That is controlled by the site setting `strip image metadata`. You will also need to disable `composer media optimization image enabled` as that also removes EXIF as a side-effect.
