# Must log in to read thread plugin

I would like to allow users to view the first post of a thread but force them to log in if they want to read the rest of the replies, as well as force them to log in to download files and media

While allowing Google robots access to index the entire page skipping that blocking

In the next 4-5 weeks

Have you looked at: [Guest Gate Theme Component](https://meta.discourse.org/t/guest-gate-theme-component/225107)?

Perhaps you could fund @Don to make any additional functionality you need …

I think in this case the [Gated Topics in Category](https://meta.discourse.org/t/gated-topics-in-category/225454) theme component could be a better choice. It will allow to read a section the OP (first post).
