# Muted categories behavior for anon users?

I have been searching around, but can’t find a definitive explanation on what muted categories behavior should be:

I have a muted category which is shown in the sidebar menu.

For anons:

- It’s not showing in the sidebar
- It’s not showing in a collapsed “Muted categories” at the bottom of /categories
- It **is** ~~not~~ visible in categories dropdown on /latest

However, how is an anon user supposed to find this category?

My usecase for muting the category: it’s posts are automated + more frequent then other topics, so I do not want to show it in /latest.. so it’s a default muted category - but is a muted cat. meant to completely hide categories for anons?
