# Muted tag still shows in my notifications

Muting can be quite confusing.
What are your tracking levels for the #Contribute > Bug, #Contribute > Site feedback and #Support\[1\] categories?
Do you see the “Notify me about topics in categories or tags I’m watching that also belong to one I have muted” option in your [tracking preferences](https://meta.discourse.org/my/preferences/tracking)? Is that disabled?
What is the tracking level of the individual topic that you are notified about?

It’s normal.
Yes, I do have the “notify me for tags in muted categories” but the tags are muted, and the category not.

I think it may have happened because you are watching #Contribute > Site feedback, so you were notified when the topic was moved from #Support to #Contribute > Site feedback because the watching overruled the muting.

I’m not sure. Maybe there should be an “un-notification process” to ensure the notifications are _removed_ from queue when the topics are moved away from a normal category. That may sound complicated, and certainly it is, but it’s very surprising to see muted tags popping up in this case. Maybe adding a delay before notification would have prevented this instance…
In any case, you’re right, this can happen to other people and should be easy to find. Maybe the people working on notifications could have a look and decide how to handle this situation. A feature topic maybe?
