# New Discourse With a Old Wordpress

So I have a wordpress website for a couple of years with several members, and im thinking in doing a forum using Discourse. Will Discourse still work with my current wordpress members using a wordpress plugin? Or the forum will only work properly for the new members?

Have a look at [WP Discourse – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-discourse/). It is the official Discourse WordPress plugin. You can either keep the authentication between your WordPress site and Discourse separate, or use WordPress as the SSO provider for your forum. It will work for both new and existing WordPress accounts.

Thanks Simon, I was not sure if the plugin also works with existing accounts.

Do you recommend Discourse for a Wordpress forum?

Yes, I think using Discourse to handle the discussions on a WordPress site is a great idea. How successful it will be depends on your community and the content on your site.
