Newly created category cannot be found

When I create a new category and immediately try to post a new topic the newly created category is not in the category drop-down. A page reload solves the issue.

My guess is that the category drop-down’s content is not adjusted after a category has been created.

Is there any way we can force the client to do a full reload afte a category is created, @eviltrout?

We already do this – unless you mean any other tabs or open windows?

We can’t reproduce this @tmichelberger can you provide detailed repro steps?

First I couldn’t reproduce it either, but then it happened again.

Exact steps:

  1. create a new category (after this a full reload actually happens)
  2. (we are redirected to the new categories page) edit and save the category welcome topic
  3. go to the home page
  4. try to create a new topic (the newly created category won’t show up)

Yep that is a good repro @eviltrout I can confim that sequence on – we should fix it.

I’ve got a fix in master. This was related to the system losing permissions in your browser’s memory when editing a category definition topic.
