# Notice about user not seen for a long time above post they just wrote

That notice is for that particular post. In other words, the user’s last post _before that one_ was 9 months ago. So, it’s accurate.

Post notices don’t disappear, they’re just deemphasized - the background color is removed - after a configurable amount of time that you can control with the `old_post_notice_days` site setting.
