One is activated, another is not.
In those cases do they still show up on the Review page for you as Pending?
No, they donât. But I think the user experience is quite clear in this case. Once the user confirms their email address, they are told that their account needs to be approved by a moderator, and then it appears in the review queue.
And then I receive a new message that 2 users require approval, but I can only see 1 in the queue. So the number in the message is still correct.
The one which doesnât show up is the interesting one. But I havenât yet spent time on finding out what caused it. The reason I found 2 years ago still wasnât fixed, so I thought a few weeks until I have time for that wonât matter.
Does the âapproveâ button on the admin page of the user work in your case?
The one that was activated was one of many that were imported when we migrated to Discourse. I donât know why that particular one was unapproved when all the other ones we imported had status âApprovedâ.
The other one appears to have been an incomplete signup.
I approved #1 and deleted #2. Hopefully that stops the notifications!
Still donât know why the unapproved users were not showing up on the Review page as Pending.
Maybe someone in the team can have a look at this bug since
- itâs annoying
- the cause is very clear
- itâs still there after 9 years

Oh no! Surely this just fixes a symptom, not the cause. For me at least, I have an active user who is now not approved. I donât want this - itâs wrong, they should be approved. I need to know. I need the review queue to include this user and I need to be able to approve them.
Edit: it is perhaps the case that this related change would solve my problem
