# Notify if s3 backups are failing

building on this [issue about a random failure](https://meta.discourse.org/t/launcher-rebuild-fails-if-s3-settings-arent-correct/63490/14), I see that discourse has been silently logging an s3 backup failure.

It would be awesome if these were captured & displayed in the admin, or maybe even emailed to the site-admin.

Another cause for failures… [out of memory](https://meta.discourse.org/t/automated-backups-not-being-triggered-because-cannot-allocate-memory/64265) issues.
