Onebox - strange behavior with a specific link

(David García-Navas) #1

When i paste the following link on the editor, it seems that it will be oneboxed, but it shows all the content from the post:

http://nohacefaltapapel.com/2014/05/15/asi-es-el-polemico-informe-sobre-el-futuro-digital-del-new-york-times/

It’s strange because Onebox works well for the other entries from that blog.

This looks like a bug with the wordpress oneboxer.

(Arpit Jalan) #3

This is not a onebox bug because the above WordPress oEmbed is returning the entire article. See:

https://public-api.wordpress.com/oembed/1.0/?format=json&url=http%3A%2F%2Fnohacefaltapapel.com%2F2014%2F05%2F15%2Fasi-es-el-polemico-informe-sobre-el-futuro-digital-del-new-york-times%2F&for=wpcom-auto-discovery

You may need to tweak your WordPress theme settings.

Thanks @techAPJ!

I think you can close the topic, then :slightly_smiling:

I still think that if an entire article gets returned, it needs to get enclosed in a <blockquote>.

We should protect ourselves from badly structured oEmbed @techapj someone was just complaining about this on BBS. If the size is above (x) bytes, then take a different strategy, perhaps forcefully truncate the content.

Okay, done via

Now, if the size of oEmbed data is more than 4000 bytes, onebox will fallback to OpenGraph data (which is always reliable).

Here’s the above (WordPress) onebox with OpenGraph data:
