Onebox text bug - > becomes ->

-> becomes ->.

Example link:
Tunnels/Introduction - Whonix

Errmm, I see no -> on the wiki page linked to. And I’m failling to understand what a supposed wiki problem has to do with a Discourse forum.

In any case, this is not a bug. (how is this interfering with normal forum use?)
It is an HTML entity used so that it is not considered to be part of the mark-up.

Despite what it looks like in a “source” view it will display fine in a browsers rendered view.

For example, look at the title of this topic in your browser.
This is what the view-source looks like

<a href="/t/preview-text-bug-becomes-gt/39695">Preview text bug - -&gt; becomes -&amp;gt;</a>

(Adrelanos) #3

It’s only in the wiki source.
meta name="description"

That discourse feature is called Links automatically expand.
( https://www.discourse.org/video/14/onebox_fixed2.mp4 )

That is what I mean… The onebox that previews the link shows -&gt; rather than ->. As shown on the following screenshot.

More likely an implementation issue with their opengraph or oembed, did you check that first?

On Debugger - Facebook for Developers that link gets rendered
correctly.

(Jeff Atwood) #6

What does Iframely URL Debugger - Open Graph, Twitter Cards, oEmbed say?

(Adrelanos) #7

Showing &gt; rather than >.

(Jeff Atwood) #8

Well there you go, looks like a problem on their end.

(Adrelanos) #9

The description meta tag in the html source should not display &gt; but rather literal >?
