# Open Channel action on Archived Channel triggers Close Channel modal

When a chat channel has been archived, the ‘open channel’ Admin option opens the ‘close channel’ modal, and then throws an error.

Note: this chat channel was archived to a topic. Haven’t tested to see whether it works the same for a chat channel not archived to a thread first.

Steps:

On an archived channel that has been exported to a thread, click ‘open channel’:

Click ‘close channel’:

I think the bug here is that archived channels should not be even allowed to be reopened?

@lindsey how do you think this should behave, easiest fix is probably just to hide the button on archived channels.

Did that ^^ and added a tooltip explaining why the button is disabled.
