# Orange line separating topics

I hope a single line on the page isn’t “clutter”. I suspect the line moves for you once per day, showing you however far you scrolled yesterday.
I don’t find it a useful feature, but I don’t find it “unintelligible clutter”.

I wasn’t a fan at first, but my community loves it since the last update.
For an admin, we don’t have the same experience as the users, they don’t follow every topic, they come 1-2 times a day. This is very useful for them.

I like it, and the text changes that @Falco iterated on are amazing; but like the feedback above I still find it a little too persistent.
Despite text changes, I still find myself expecting it to move or disappear by taking some action-- such as once I read or acknowledge receipt of all new or updated topics above the line.
I’m by no means a zero inboxer but it has the feel of “since of these are new, take action or read these things above this line”

What value is there in yesterday’s news when the New and Unread notifications are essentially real time?
I’ve read every post (again) above the red line; fourteen in all.
The red line doesn’t budge.
Mousing over the red line yields nothing.
Left click on the red line does nothing.
Right click on the red line does nothing.
There’s no indication of what the enigmatic red line is for or how it works.
All it does is exist.

I’ve yet to see it function, much less find a use for it.
Thus far, it’s nothing but a visual bump in the trail of posts.

Our forum supports SketchUp 3D Modeling Software.
You’ll find the [Site Statistics](http://forums.sketchup.com/about) show it’s a rather lively place.
Perhaps what’s viewed as clutter is in the eye of the beholder.
In 3D modeling, neatness counts. Stray geometry (lines) left in a model create problems.
Every stitch of geometry in 3D modeling has a name, a length and must serve a purpose.
Lines which serve no purpose left here and there in a 3D model are indeed, clutter.

If you don’t care for it, go to Admin, Customize, HTML/CSS and set the CSS id for that element to `display:none`.
