Has anyone worked out a plugin that create “webmention” ping backs to links cited in a discourse topic?

Mainly, I was wanting to see how to SEND trackbacks, not receive them. You also wrote this:

I experimented with using Google searches to find all the pages that have linked to the URL of a post, but I wasn’t happy with the results.
It would be interesting to see how tracebacks could be reimagined in a better way.
