Placing of attachments/images where cursor is

(Sander Datema) #1

IIRC when you insert a picture (or attachment) it would be placed where you point your mouse cursor. Right now it isn’t; it’s placed at the top of your post.

Since not many users are handy with HTML they get confused how to move the image to its rightful place in the text.

Maybe it’s a bug, maybe it’s a new feature, but it would be nice to have (again, unless I’m mistaken).

Hmm let’s see:

Inserted via toolbar button

Inserted via drag and drop

Inserted via cut and paste

I can’t repro this… every method I use in Google Chrome inserts the image where my cursor is. Can you give a specific repro with your browser version and OS?

I am pretty sure it may be inserting on cursor position as opposed to mouse position. Subtle.

That is by design, then, there’s nothing anywhere that says we insert at mouse cursor – we insert at the text cursor.

We’re not WYSYWYG so I think that is not a correct assumption.

Well… it works now. Must have been something I ate…

@sam actually fixed this recently, so quote insertions, at least, are guaranteed to go where the live cursor is in the editor.
