# Please replace German umlauts in URLs with their respective digraphs

When generating topic URLs from titles, German [umlauts](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umlaut_%28linguistics%29) could be “translated” better.

**Currently:**

Title:

```
Kürzest mögliche Logging-Klasse

```

URL:

```
/kurzest-mogliche-logging-klasse

```

([Example](http://entwicklergate.de/t/kurzest-mogliche-logging-klasse/29))

**Suggestion:**

Replace umlauts with their respective [digraphs](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digraph_%28orthography%29):

Title:

```
Kürzest mögliche Logging-Klasse

```

URL:

```
/kuerzest-moegliche-logging-klasse

```

I.e.:

> ä =\> ae  
> ö =\> oe  
> ü =\> ue  
> ß =\> ss

Most likely there is some kind of automatic conversion that would work for other languages, too.
