# Plugin concept: Lightning “tip this post” using Breez SDK (Time2Build)

Hi Discourse folks,
We’re planning a Time2Build submission and wanted to check interest in a plugin that adds Breez-powered Lightning tipping to posts or users. The idea is to provide communities that already run Discourse with an optional, self-custodial way to reward helpful content—no custodial processor, just Breez invoices presented inline.
If this sounds useful, we’d draft the plugin as follows:
- Admin config for Breez credentials + toggles (per category, trust level, etc.).
- “Tip” button on posts/profile cards that opens a Breez-generated invoice modal.
- Optional badges or webhooks when tips arrive.
We’ll only pursue it if it aligns with what you’d accept on Meta/the plugin directory, so any early feedback is welcome. Thanks!

Disclaimer: I’m not a Discourse employee
Anyone is free to make a plugin, it’s just whether you want a dedicated topic for that in #Customization > Plugin. I suppose there aren’t really hard restrictions that Discourse enforces very strictly, unless the plugin is malicious or malware (and even so I believe #Customization > Plugin topics first require manual approval before publishing).
Still, better to get a member of the team to reply here.

Hmm… as I understand it, this is Bitcoin tipping? I really cannot gauge how popular this plugin will be, I suppose it’s really if there’s communities out there who’ll use it. @Moin’s idea is a good one; there has been a (broken) Bitcoin tipping in the past, as well as #Contribute > Feature requests in the past about tipping other users, I believe.

Thanks for the info. I saw in a past comment [here](https://meta.discourse.org/t/tip-or-pay-button-for-user-post-content-does-it-exist-already/380174) that you mentioned something about tipping plugins being broken, do you know of any technical limitations to this
