# Policy and permission issues with s3 buckets?

FWIW, I also was seeing my backups suddenly fail after an upgrade. The key was the link from the [Set up file and image uploads to S3](https://meta.discourse.org/t/setting-up-file-and-image-uploads-to-s3/7229) link above and carefully following the section about adding an inline policy to the IAM user I was using for the backups. After I updated that, I got a successful backup.
